The Meaning of Es na Tyr

Es na Tyr is an ancient saying, dating long before the Hraichi Elves became who they are now. It is a simple, very powerful phrase, emphasizing that nature is a source of both life and death. Tyr is the part that makes this holiday/celebration a party for the beginning of the colder seasons. Nature, as a giver and taker of life, is held very highly on this day, the shortest day of the year, otherwise known as the start of Winter.

The Celebration

This is...an awkward ceremony, for it is the release of the elderly into the afterlife as well as an appreciation of the dying parts of nature. The Neverwerian Realm is known for its reincarnation as a form of an afterlife, so the elders who feel they are ready to go will be rumored to be seen again in spring, i.e. Kima Tanta. Gifts are not necessarily part of the ceremony, but are given to children as a method to keep them from being too upset. Seeds are planted in the dead earth as tribute of giving something back to the world that dies every year and comes back.
